Monel Welding
Another material we come across in our shop is Monel. Monel is a very expensive allow, typically having a cost of 5-10 times more expensive than copper, nickel or steel. Due to the high cost, it’s important to make sure you have certified welders who are familiar with Monel welding in order to avoid costly mistakes or downtime. At Valley Fabrication, we have AWS certified welders who specialize in Monel welding. Monel is often used in the chemical and oil industries due to its resistance to acids. It has added benefits such as malleability, strength (stronger than steel), and high temperature resistance. Common applications where Monel alloys are used include pump shafts, fasteners, chemical and hydrocarbon processing equipment, valves, fittings and heat exchangers.
